Man Charged with Lewd Public Act

Lorne Casey is a registered sex offender in Massachusetts, police said.

A local man registered as a sex offender in Massachusetts was charged with performing a lewd, sexual act in public after an incident Friday evening.

Salem Police said they charged Lorne Casey, 42, of Salem, with a felony count of indecent exposure and lewdness.

Casey was arrested Saturday night on a warrant from the alleged incident which occurred the night before on Lawrence Road.

At approximately 6:12 p.m. Friday, police received a call from a female who'd reported seeing a man performing a lewd act on the steps of 168 Lawrence Road.

Police said that when the man noticed the female, he stood up and continued performing the sexual act until he finally turned away.

According to police the female notified a friend and they followed the male to a Mildred Street address. Officers were able to locate the male, Casey, in that area as he matched the description.

Police determined Casey was a registered sex offender out of Massachusetts from a 2011 incident.

Police said Casey was processed and released on $2,000 personal recognizance bail pending arraignment in the 10th Circuit Court of Salem.
