Man Dead After Becoming Trapped Underneath Camper In Hampstead

Hampstead police and firefighters were called to the Sunset Lake Campground on Emerson Avenue to extricate the man Sunday.

HAMPSTEAD, NH — A man was killed at the Sunset Lake Campground in Hampstead Sunday afternoon after he became trapped underneath a fallen camper, police said.

Hampstead police and fire officials were called to the campground on Emerson Avenue at around 1:55 p.m. and extricated the man from underneath the camper, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said investigators believe the man had been working underneath the elevated trailer when the support system failed and the trailer came down on top of him.

The man's identity is being held pending family notifications.

His death is being investigated by the Hampstead NH Police Department with assistance from the Hampstead Fire Dept. and the NH Medical Examiner’s Office.
