Man With 'Numerous' Warrants Arrested in Salem

Thomas Frady allegedly pawned a stolen welding machine valued at $3,300.

A Springfield, Mass., man under investigation for pawning a stolen welding machine was arrested on several outstanding warrants in Salem Thursday.

Thomas Frady, 34, of Springfield was arrested on numerous warrants as well as charges of simple assault, resisting arrest, receiving stolen property and falsifying evidence.

On Thursday at approximately 3:30 p.m. Salem police said they responded to NH Pawnbrokers at 351 South Broadway for a report of a possible wanted subject. Upon further investigation, police determined that the male subject, Frady, was under investigation in Salem for pawning a welding machine valued at $3,300 which was later found to be stolen.

"The male subject also had active arrest warrants in Dover, Chesterfield, and Rockingham County Sheriff in New Hampshire. He also had active arrest warrants in several communities in Massachusetts," police said.

Frady was taken into custody without incident but police said he "became somewhat belligerent and combative" during the booking process.

Police said he was eventually processed and transported to Rockingham County jail pending arraignment.
