SALEM, NH – NH 02 Congressional candidate Marilinda Garcia today released the following statement after Rep. Ann Kuster, who self-describes as one of Obamacare’s most steadfast supporters in all of Congress, suddenly decided to vote to delay penalties associated with the law’s “individual mandate.”
"The notorious ‘individual mandate’ is the cornerstone of President Obama’s failed healthcare law—a law that Rep. Ann Kuster campaigned for and has defended with more vigor than almost any other member of Congress. In fact, Rep. Kuster doubled down on Obamacare just a few weeks ago, saying she would have voted for it had she been in Washington when it passed. But now, as Obamacare continues wreak havoc on all aspects of health care across the country and her own Election Day nears, the Congresswoman has seemingly lost faith in one of the most controversial provisions in the law. How politically convenient.
Rep. Kuster’s sudden lack of support for Obamacare’s individual mandate does nothing to improve our healthcare system; it merely delays an onerous portion of a bad law. It's time to fully dismantle Obamacare and allow New Hampshire officials and community leaders to move forward with patient-centered reforms."
