Mass. Man Arrested On Criminal Threatening Charges

Brandon Heath of Haverhill was arrested after allegedly pointing a BB gun – that looked like a real firearm – during road rage incident.

SALEM, NH — A Bay State man was arrested during the weekend after an alleged incident on Friday night, according to police. Brandon Heath, 31, of Haverhill, MA, was arrested on April 7, 2018, on two counts of criminal threatening. At just before 7 p.m. on Friday, police received a road rage report alleging that a driver pointed a handgun at another driver, according to Capt. Joel Dolan of the Salem Police Department.

The victim alleged that he was driving north when a second vehicle – a dark Honda with Mass. plates – attempted to merge into his lane. The incident reportedly occurred on Route 28 in the area of Cluff Road.

“As the operator’s effort to merge was unsuccessful, he became visibly enraged and pointed what appeared to be a dark colored handgun at the victim,” Dolan alleged. “Both vehicles continued north where the suspect again pointed a handgun at the victim, this time in the area of the Ninety-Nine Restaurant. The suspect vehicle was then seen turning west on Rockingham Park Boulevard.”

Officers checked the area and found the vehicle near Sears at the Mall at Rockingham Park.

“As officers approached the vehicle, they observed a handgun on the rear passenger seat,” Dolan said. “Officers eventually made contact with the operator of the vehicle. As officers continued to investigate the incident, they located two guns in the vehicle, both of which turned out to be realistic looking BB guns. The suspect did indicate he was involved in a road rage incident earlier in the evening and thought the other driver was the aggressor.”

A warrant was filed against Heath and he was arrested the next day after turning himself in on the warrant. He is due in Salem District Court on June 11.
