Mass. Teen Arrested for Purse Snatching
Salem Police: Witness attempted to stop the thief at Kohl's earlier this afternoon.

The Salem Police Department brought out its K-9 unit and officer after an alleged purse snatching incident in parking lot of the Kohl’s department store earlier today.
At around 2:15 p.m. on Nov. 27, 2015, a woman stated she was in her car when a male alleged grabbed her purse from a carriage and ran towards the back of the store.
“A witness to the theft chased the suspect to the rear of the building where he lost visual contact with him,” according to Sgt. Chad Clark. “K9 Officer Nelson and his partner Trigger, arrived on scene and began tracking the suspect to two tractor trailers that were backed up to the rear of the Kohl’s building. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.”

Police later learned that the alleged thief was a 16-year-old from Lawrence, MA. He was later released to his parents.
The incident remains under investigation by the Salem Police. Any witnesses to this incident are asked to call Officer Dan Nelson at 603-893-1911.
