“The Asadoorian family leaves a 54-year legacy of excellence at Methuen Construction,” Barbone said. “It is up to our team to continue and build on that tradition.”
Methuen is a Salem, New Hampshire-based general contractor that offers professional construction, management, fabrication, facilities maintenance and design/build services. Power, waste-to-energy, water/wastewater treatment, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, and food and beverage are among the industries the company serves.
“It has been very important to me to ensure that Methuen and the teammates that it’s been such an honor to work with over five-plus decades are left in good hands,” said outgoing President and Chairman Leon Asadoorian. “During more than 25 years at Methuen, Joe Barbone has demonstrated a total commitment to excellence and more recently as its CEO, has led the company to unprecedented growth and success. I’m confident that under his leadership our great tradition will carry on.”
Decades of delivering high-quality work focused completely on understanding and meeting the needs of its clients have made Methuen Construction one of the most respected general contractors in the northeast. Part of the reason for the company’s success is its focus on training. Methuen offers its employees craft skills training in nine different areas and provides managers with continuous professional development opportunities.
Methuen is also proud of its commitment to safety. The company has gone over one million work hours, spanning more than five years, with no lost time due to injury.
Methuen Construction was founded by Leon and Elizabeth Asadoorian in their Methuen, MA home and adjoining barn in 1960. The company had two employees and did commercial and residential site construction. Their son, also named Leon, began working there as a Northeastern University student in 1963 and worked full-time upon his graduation the following year.
After decades of growth, the company moved to its current Salem, NH facility in 2001, where it now has more than 150 employees.
