Michigan Man Attempts To Get Cash With False ID: Police
Deandray Buckley of Belleville, MI, was arrested in Salem; is suspected of withdrawing large amounts of cash from banks around New England.

SALEM, NH — A keen bank teller assisted police in stopping an alleged identity thief who had reportedly withdrawn large sums of money from banks – including Citizens Bank locations – across New England. Deandray Buckley, 26, of Belleville, MI, was arrested on Feb. 27, 2018, and charged with attempted identity fraud, attempted theft by deception, and resisting arrest. At around 2 p.m. yesterday, officers were sent to the Citizens Bank on South Broadway for a report of a suspicious man attempting to withdraw a large sum of cash with a fraudulent identification, according to Capt. Joel Dolan of the Salem Police Department.

“The teller attempted to stall the transaction until police arrived however, the male grabbed the fraudulent license and fled the bank,” Dolan alleged. “As officers arrived, they located a male, matching the suspect’s description, running from the bank. Officers were able to stop the male and confirmed he was the suspect attempting to withdraw the money.”

Officers then spoke to the teller and she reportedly stated that she recognized the man from a memo distributed by Citizens Bank to employees.
“A Rhode Island branch issued a memo, identifying the male, and stated he had been using fraudulent identification to withdraw large amounts of cash,” Dolan stated. “The male is a suspect in numerous fraudulent transactions throughout New England.”

Buckley refused bail and was held in the Rockingham County House of Corrections. He is expected to be arraigned this afternoon.
