UPDATE: Power Back on in Salem

Liberty Utilities has power restored ... but you'll never guess why it went out ...

SALEM, NH - Liberty Utilities is reporting 1,060 customers without power. The outage first occurred around 3:30 p.m. on March 11, 2016. At about 3:45 p.m., the company wrote on Twitter that it was aware of the outage and that crews were investigating the situation. A single Windham customer is also without power.

A little after 4 p.m., power was restored in town, according to Liberty Utilities.

"Cause was squirrel related," the company said on Twitter.

A couple of businesses noted the outage online. Sal's Pizza said despite the outage, the establishment was still open.

"Call or come on in for dinner tonight," the note stated.

Technology Seed, another company, apologized on Twitter for the outage saying that employees would get right back to customers who were speaking with a technician.
