New Year Brings Early Success For Saints Hockey

The new year brought with it a continuation of successes for the New Hampshire Saints Youth Hockey program, including a holiday tournament championship for one team.

Bantam 1 Team Wins 2014 Jingle Bell Tournament Title

The Saints Bantam 1 team kicked off 2014 with a victory in the championship game of the annual Jingle Bell Skate Hockey Tournament held at the New England Sports Center in Marlboro, MA. After suffering an opening game defeat, the team rebounded to successive wins and capped their tournament run by avenging the opening game loss, winning 5-2 against Central CT.

Saturday, January 4

On Saturday, the Saints Mite team began the full ice portion of their Valley League season after playing cross-ice games through the 2013 portion of the schedule. Full ice did nothing to slow down the team as they posted a tie against Agawam, NH in Tewksbury. Jack McNair played well in goal, while Hunter Marcin found the back of the net with two goals. Tyler Pizzano, Andy Sylvain and Tyler Kirby rounded out the scoring for the team.

The PeeWee team continued their winning ways to start the 2014 portion of their season with a 7-3 victory over Cambridge at Methuen. This seventh-consecutive win keeps the team at the top of their Valley Hockey League division.

The Squirt team continued to play strong, recording a 3-3 tie against S&S on Saturday evening in Lawrence. 

Sunday, January 5

The Bantam 2 team resumed league play with a convincing 7-0 victory over Parkway Sunday morning in Methuen. The win, the third in a row for the team, featured a balanced scoring attack led by Nick Sorcinelli with 2 goals and five additional players with a goal apiece. Austin Corea and Zach DeBay combined in net for a dominant shutout performance.

The Bantam 1 team continued their Valley Hockey League season with a 2-2 tie against Winchester on Sunday evening. The tie keeps the team at the top of their division standings.
