Night Lane Closure Coming to I-93 North

NH DOT: Expect detours next week.

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) announced earlier this week that night work associated with the construction of the Exit 2 I-93 Bridge in Salem will require detours, according to a press release.

Operations to place bridge girders will take place on the nights of Tuesday, March 3, through Thursday, March 5, 2015, weather permitting.

Traffic on I-93 north will be reduced to one lane utilizing a lane closure.

“This work will take place during non-commuter hours, from approximately 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.,” according to the statement. ”Motorists should remain alert while traveling through the construction zone and obey all posted signs.”

Detours will also be in place along Route 97/Pelham Road to prevent traffic from traveling under the existing bridges while the new beams are erected,. The detour route will utilize South Policy Road to Lowell Road to Stiles Road. The detour will also take place during non-commuter hours. Message boards and detour signing will be in place to assist motorists through the detour, according to the NH DOT.

This work is part of the $41 million I-93 widening and reconstruction project in the vicinity of Exit 2.

The general contractor is George R. Cairns & Sons, Inc. of Windham, New Hampshire.
