Deceased Man Discovered on Hill Street in Salem
Updated: The area around the street has been re-opened to traffic as police investigate an alleged threat incident.

SALEM, NH — The Salem Police Department were called to Hill Street for a threat investigation this morning and quickly blocked off surrounding areas, according to police. The activity, according to Capt. Joel Dolan of the Salem Police Department, reportedly concerns a man making threats to harm himself. At around 8:15 a.m. on May 5, 2017, police noted on Twitter that there was no immediate danger to the public and at 11:30 a.m., the blocked areas were cleared.

Dolan noted in a press statement at just after noon that when police arrived at the scene, they located a deceased white male in the home.
"Salem Police detectives are on scene and the investigation continues at this point," he stated. "The NH Medical Examiner’s Office has been notified and will determine the cause of death."

According to posts on Facebook, Lancaster Elementary School implemented a "shelter-in-place protocol" since the investigation is near the school. Students are able to move around freely inside but there will be no activities outdoors and limited visitor access.
