Police Break Up Underage Drinking Party

Nineteen people either arrested or taken into protective custody on Ackerman Street.

Police said 19 people were either arrested or taken into protective custody after an underage drinking party was broken up on Ackerman Street Friday night.

According to police, they responded to that area Friday at 10:03 p.m. for a report of damage to a lawn. The caller had asked a male subject who'd parked on her lawn to move his vehicle, who then proceeded to peel out and damage her lawn.

Across the street, police observed a large party going on and as they approached the house saw people fleeing the residence and a large number still inside the home. Several people were taken into custody outside the home and police said none of the occupants answered the door.

Police said they spoke to the homeowner, who was out of state at the time, and told her there was a large party with "a significant amount of underage minors" at her home.

After she refused to allow officers to enter the home, police obtained a search warrant, entered the home and towed several vehicles.
