Possible 2016 Presidential Contender in NH This Weekend

Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley will address New Hampshire Democrats at the annual Jefferson Jackson Dinner on Saturday in Manchester.

Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley will headline the New Hampshire Democratic Party's annual Jefferson Jackson Dinner on Saturday in Manchester.

O'Malley, seen as a possible 2016 presidential candidate, finished at 0 percent in a Public Policy Polling survey of New Hampshire Democrats in September.

The Jefferson Jackson Dinner is the New Hampshire Democratic Party's premiere fall event. For decades the dinner has attracted some of the nation's most prominent Democratic leaders. Recent speakers have included Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick, U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar, and President Bill Clinton.

The event will be held at 6:30 p.m. at Expo Center at the Radisson Hotel in Manchester. More than 900 people are expected to attend.

Other notables expected to attend include U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, Gov. Maggie Hassan, and U.S. Reps. Carol Shea-Porter and Annie Kuster.

Four New Hampshire Democrats will also be recognized with awards at the dinner:

  • The Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Eleanor Roosevelt Awards are given to a male and female champion of social and economic justice following in the Roosevelt legacy
  • The New Hampshire Democratic Party's Grassroots Award is presented to a grassroots activist for outstanding service.
  • The Kathy Sullivan Award for Courage and Leadership is presented to New Hampshire Democrat who has exhibited extraordinary courage and leadership over the past year.
