Recognition for Local College Students

BRYANT UNIVERSITY

The fall semester Dean's List at Bryant University includes the following area residents:

Anthony Mahn, a Junior Accounting major from Salem

Ryan Phillips, a Senior Politics and Law major from Salem

Stephen Righini, a Junior Actuarial Mathematics major from Salem

GETTYSBURG COLLEGE

Jill Duranko, of Salem, has been placed on the Gettysburg College Dean's Honor list for outstanding academic achievement in Fall 2011.

Students with a quality point average of 3.60 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) for a semester's work are placed on the College's Dean's Honor List.

ITHACA COLLEGE

William Kingdon, son of John and Kymberly Kingdon of Salem, a senior Sport Management major, was named to the Dean's List at Ithaca College's School of Health Sciences and Human Performance for the fall 2011 semester.

LOYOLA UNIVERSITY MARYLAND

Kayla Donohue, a member of the class of 2014 from Salem, has been named to the fall 2011 Dean's List at Loyola University Maryland.

In order to qualify for the Dean's List at Loyola, a student must have a GPA of at least 3.5 with a minimum of 15 credits.

MARIST COLLEGE

Max Jacques, of Salem is a member of the Class of 2015 and is majoring in Communications/Radio/TV/Film.

SACRED HEART UNIVERSITY

Scott Gaffney of Salem was named to the fall 2011 Dean's List at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Conn. To receive this honor, a student must achieve a 3.6 grade average, based on a 4.0 scale.

SKIDMORE COLLEGE

Megan Barlow, a member of the class of 2012 at Skidmore College, earned term honors for the fall semester. She is the daughter of Robert and Cynthia Barlow of Salem.

Term honors are awarded for a quality point ratio of 3.6 from a possible 4.0, for students who have completed 14 credit hours.

SPRINGFIELD COLLEGE

Springfield College has named the following local residents to the dean's list for academic excellence for the fall 2011 term.

STONEHILL COLLEGE

Stonehill College recently named Salem resident Christina M. Teoli, a member of the class of 2012, to its Dean's List for the Fall 2011 semester.

To qualify for the Dean's List at Stonehill, students must have a semester grade point average of 3.50 or better and must have completed successfully all courses for which they were registered.

Students named to the Dean's List at the University of New Hampshire have earned recognition through their superior scholastic performance. Highest Honors are awarded to students who earn a semester grade point average of 3.7 or better out of a possible 4.0. Students with a 3.5 to 3.69 average are awarded high honors and students whose grade point average is 3.2 through 3.49 are awarded honors.

UNIVERSITY OF NEW HAVEN

Jeremy Jones of Salem graduated from the University of New Haven on January 14, 2012 with a M.A. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology.

To be named to the dean's lists, students must have a grade-point average of 3.0 or better and rank in the top 20 percent of their class in their respective college or school.

WORCESTER POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE

The following local residents were among 1,151 students from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) named to the university's Dean's List for academic excellence for the fall 2011 semester.

Valerie Boutin of Salem is a senior majoring in Mechanical Engineering.

Richard Brown of Salem is a senior majoring in Computer Science.

Alexander Tran of Salem is a junior majoring in Electrical & Computer Engineering.

The criteria for the WPI Dean's List differs from most other universities as WPI does not compute a grade point average (GPA). Instead, WPI defines the Dean's List by the amount of work completed at the A level in courses and projects.
