Recognition for Salem College Students

BRYANT UNVERSITY

Bryant University held its 149th Commencement on Saturday, May 19. Among the graduates is the following local resident:

QUINNIPIAC UNIVERSITY

Justin Kurek of Salem earned a Bachelor of Science in Management from Quinnipiac University during the 81st undergraduate commencement exercises on May 20.

SKIDMORE COLLEGE

Skidmore's Class of 2012, totaling 627 baccalaureate candidates, participated in the College's 101st Commencement Saturday, May 19, at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center.

Megan Barlow of Salem received a BSA degree Cum Laude.

ST. MICHAEL'S COLLEGE

Alaina Marie Wermers, daughter of Darlene and Eric Wermers, graduated cum laude from Saint Michael's College in Burlington, Vermont, with a BA in French, and a minor in linguistics. While at St. Michael's,she studied abroad in France, and participated in community service, teaching English to refugees and volunteering at the local animal shelter. Recognizing her dedication to her community, the Methuen-Salem Rotary Club made her an honorary member in 2008, when she graduated from Salem High School.

Michael Edward Brown, son of Arlene and Matthew Brown of Salem graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History.

The following students graduated from the University of New Hampshire during the Commencement Ceremony held Saturday, May 19, 2012, in Durham.

UNIVERSITY OF NEW HAVEN

Shayla McCarron from Salem was named to the Dean's List at the University of New Haven for the spring 2012 semester. Full-time undergraduate students must have a 3.50 or better cumulative GPA for the semester to be eligible for the Dean's List.

UNIVERSITY OF VERMONT

Some 2,552 students were awarded a variety of bachelor's degrees during the University of Vermont's 209th Commencement ceremonies on May 20. There were some 536 advanced degrees and certificates awarded by the UVM Graduate College and approximately 114 women and men took the oath of Hippocrates following the awarding of their M.D. degrees at ceremonies of the UVM College of Medicine.
