Run for Office in Salem

Here's a rundown of information about the 2015 election season.

Have you ever thought of running for town office? Well, here’s your chance. Town Clerk Susan Wall has released the following information about the upcoming 2015 election season, including Election Day on March 10.

The filing period for candidates begins on Wednesday, Jan. 21, and runs through Friday, Jan. 30.

Anyone interested in running for office will need to file at the Town Clerk’s Office, 33 Geremonty Drive, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. You must be a registered voter in Salem to run.

Seats available

  • For Selectman – THREE Years – Vote for TWO. The incumbents are James Keller, Everett McBride
  • For Budget Committee – THREE Years – Vote for THREE. The incumbents are Robert Bryant, Dane Hoover, Paul Huard
  • For Library Trustee – THREE Years – Vote for ONE. Cindy Jury is the incumbent
  • For Trustee of the Trust Funds – THREE Years – Vote for ONE. Susan Covey is the incumbent
  • For Moderator – ONE Year - Vote for ONE. Christopher Goodnow is the incumbent
  • For Planning Board – THREE Years – Vote for TWO. The incumbents are Phyllis O’Grady, Paul Pelletier
  • For Zoning Board of Adjustment – THREE Years – Vote for TWO. The incumbents are Gary Azarian, Steven Diantgikis

Town Meeting

The First Deliberative Session is at 9 a.m. on Saturday Feb. 7, at SHS. Citizens petitions must be received by 5 p.m. on Jan. 13. You must have 25 signatures of registered voters.

Election

The town election will be held on March 10. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at five polling places – Fisk School, Soule School, Barron School, Senior Center and N. Salem School.
