Salem Cops Make Arrest in 'Disturbing' Child Porn Case

Brian Powell was charged after a lengthy investigation by the New Hampshire Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

A local man was arrested on numerous child pornography charges after a lengthy investigation, according to police.

Brian Powell, 33, of Salem, was arrested at around 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 9, 2015, on a warrant for three counts of manufacturing child sex abuse images, three counts of possession child pornography, and three counts of certain use of computer services prohibited.

“The arrest warrant was the result of a lengthy, and disturbing, investigation initiated by the New Hampshire Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force,” according to Lt. Joel Dolan of the Salem Police Department.

Powell was taken into custody at his home without incident and processed at the Salem Police Department. He refused the services of a bail commissioner and was transported to the Rockingham County jail. Powell will be arraigned this morning in the 10th Circuit Court – District Division Salem.

“This investigation is on-going at this time and there is a possibility Powell may face additional charges at some point,” according to Dolan.
