Salem Enrollment Projections Right on Target
School Superintendent Michael Delahanty provided the School Board with an update this week.

Salem's enrollment projections for the 2013-2014 school year were on target, School Superintendent Michael Delahanty told the School Board on Tuesday.
"We're just a student or two below what we had projected, which is I think considerably accurate considering we projected these numbers almost a year ago," he said.
There are nine more kindergarten students than anticipated, and eight fewer elementary school students, Delahanty said. At the grade six through eight level, the district is down three students. But at the high school level, seven more students have registered than were projected.
Of course, those numbers could still rise as the first day of school draws closer. The first day of school in Salem is Wednesday, Aug. 28.
Delahanty also updated the School Board on staffing issues. He said there is one more social studies teacher to hire at Salem High School, but otherwise the school district is fully staffed.
