Salem High School Staff Members of the Month Announced

Dr. Thomas Polte, Jill Lowrey, and Jeff Foulds were selected for December, January, and February.

SALEM, NH - The following Salem High School staff members were selected as the Staff Member of the Month for December, January, and February, according to Kerri Boucher, secretary, Upperclassmen Dean.

Dr. Thomas Polte, a Science teacher, pictured left, was selected for December. Dr. Polte was nominated by a parent because his expertise and enthusiasm has encouraged her daughter to pursue the field of research, biotechnology, or medical sciences in college. He has inspired not only this student, but the parent’s other child who is a former student. Dr. Polte encourages students to grow and take risks. He even used his free block to allow her daughter to take an independent study course with him to better prepare herself for college. He provides opportunities that will benefit and prepare all of his students.

Jill Lowrey, an English teacher, was selected for January. She was nominated by a new staff member for her unwavering support. Her incredible knowledge of the content and open-mindedness and flexibility has been an asset to this teacher; she has been supportive and a guide, always offering a helping hand. Mrs. Lowrey is supportive of her students and strives to make them feel comfortable in her classroom. She works diligently to engage them and pushes them in a way that allows them to connect with themselves, as well as with the outside world around them. We are blessed to have such a knowledgeable, kind, and inspiring person to help us thrive this year!

Jeff Foulds, a Guidance Counselor, was selected for February. He was nominated by a parent who asked him to be his daughter’s guidance counselor at the recommendation of another parent. His daughter struggled academically and socially during her freshman year, but this year, under Mr. Fould’s guidance, she has made the Honor Roll and High Honor Roll during the first two quarters of her sophomore year. Not only is she looking forward to school, but she is making new friends. There has been a complete turnaround in her attitude and behavior, even at home. Mr. Fould’s overall guiding influence, along with the concerted efforts of teachers and aides, has made a big impact on his daughter.

A well-deserved congratulations and thank you to these staff members.
