Salem Man Arrested for Breaking Into Cars

Police were sent to the Westgate Arms apartment complex this morning and charged Henry Shuman with 12 counts of theft.

SALEM, NH - A Salem man was arrested this morning for allegedly breaking into at least a dozen vehicles at a local apartment complex.

Henry S. Shuman, 39, of Salem, was arrested on Dec. 15, 2015, on 12 counts of theft by unauthorized taking and transfer.

Officers were sent to the Westgate Arms apartment complex on Oakridge Avenue for a report of a man walking to and from several vehicles, according to a report. The officers searched the area and quickly located Shuman, who matched the description of the man who was in the area.

“Several witnesses were also able to direct officers to the male,” according to Lt. Joel Dolan of the Salem Police Department. “Officers observed the male ducking down beside a vehicle. After speaking with the male, he was taken into custody.”

Officers questioned Shuman and were able to identify 12 victims of alleged thefts, according to police.

Shuman was processed and released on $2,500 personal recognizance bail. He’s due in Salem District Court on Jan. 25, 2015.
