Salem Man Indicted for Allegedly Secretly Taping Women in Cafe Bathroom

A Salem man who allegedly secretly taped women in an Arlington, Massachusetts, café bathroom has been indicted, authorities said Wednesday.
Joseph B. Hennessey, 53, was indicted by a Middlesex County Grand Jury on the following charges: photographing or videotaping a person in a state of nudity (four counts) and interception of oral communications, according to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.

On Saturday, Sept. 13, Hennessey was arrested after allegedly putting a hidden camera in the women’s bathroom at Kickstand Café at 594 Mass. Ave. in Arlington Center. According to authorities, Hennessey hid the camera in a flower pot, which he had brought with him, and watched the streaming footage on a device while sitting in the café.
Authorities believe Hennessey committed the same act at the café on Friday, Sept. 5.

Café employees noticed Hennessey’s odd behavior and notified police.
Hennessey worked for the Town of Arlington’s Department of Public Works but was collecting workers’ compensation at the time of his arrest.
