Salem Police: Estranged Husband Broke Into Home
Eric Grubbs was arrested, held without bail, for stalking, burglary, resisting arrest, and other charges.

A local man was arrested yesterday morning after allegedly breaking into his wife’s home.
Eric Grubbs, 38, of Salem, was arrested on April 13, 2015, and charged with burglary, breach of bail, violation of a protective order, resisting arrest or detention, obstructing the report of a crime, and stalking.
According to police, officers were sent to the home at around 3 a.m. for a report of a break-in. The homeowner told police that she allegedly saw her estranged husband enter the home via a drop cam.

“The caller stated she watched her husband climb through a second story window where he walked over to the camera and pulled the plug,” according to Lt. Joel Dolan of the Salem Police Department. “Responding officers located a ladder against the home leading to the window and an open front door. Officers made several attempts to contact the male, but all were unsuccessful.”
Police conducted a room-to-room search of the home and officers allegedly found the man, later identified as Grubbs, “hiding under a mattress and clothing in the corner of a bedroom,” according to police.

“The male initially refused to reveal himself and was ultimately taken into custody,” Dolan noted.
Just a week before, Grubbs was arrested for violation of a protection order, allegedly against his estranged wife, and was free on $2,500 cash bail. So a breach charge was added to his other charges.
He was held without bail and was arraigned later that day in Salem District Court.
