Salem Police Help Bag Raymond Man After Methuen Bank Robbery
Martin Hansen allegedly robbed a Santander Bank on Merrimack Street and was arrested this morning after a traffic stop.
SALEM, NH — Salem Police reportedly assisted in capturing a New Hampshire man this morning that Massachusetts police believe reportedly robbed a bank there yesterday, according to police. Martin R. Hansen Jr., 55, of Raymond, was arrested on Dec. 29, 2016, for being a fugitive of justice as well as habitual offender charges. Methuen MA Police also charged him with unarmed robbery and larceny over $250.

At just after noon on Dec. 28, the Santander Bank on Merrimack Street in Methuen, MA, was hit by an older man who reportedly passed a note to a teller demanding money and then fled the bank with an undetermined amount of cash. The suspect reportedly did not show a weapon during the alleged crime but was seen leaving the area in an older, blue Dodge Intrepid.

Police in Methuen released information about the suspect and received tips that it was allegedly Hansen who robbed the bank.
Methuen Police notified Salem Police at around 3:45 a.m. this morning that it was following a vehicle that was being driven by a suspect in the case and was heading into Salem, according to police.

“Salem officers were able to locate the vehicle on Veterans Memorial Parkway and conducted a high-risk motor vehicle stop,” Capt. Joel Dolan of the Salem Police Department noted in a press statement. “The male operator was taken into custody without incident.”
Hansen was held at the Rockingham County Jail and was arraigned in Salem District Court this morning. He will be arraigned at a later date for the alleged robbery, according to Methuen Police.
