UPDATE: Salem Schools Closed Monday

Uncertain weather from Hurricane Sandy forces cancellation, forum on renovations postponed.

UPDATE, 6:40 p.m.: According to Salem School Board Secretary Peter Morgan, the board's previously-scheduled forum on elementary school renovations for Monday at Salem High School has been postponed.

There is no word yet on when the forum will now be held.

EARLIER STORYOn its Twitter account, the Salem School District announced that it has canceled classes Monday due to impending inclement weather as a result of Hurricane Sandy.

In full, the tweet said: "Due to uncertainty related to the timing of tomorrow's expected high wind and rain storm, Salem schools will be closed Monday, October 29."

The Salem School Board had scheduled a forum for Monday night regarding future plans for elementary school renovations. It is unclear if that forum will still take place.
