School Nominations Approved

5-0 vote approves numerous new high-level school administrators.

The slate of new school administrators nominated by SAU 57 Superintendent Michael Delahanty for the 2012-2013 school year passed by a 5-0 at Tuesday night's School Board meeting.

All of the major nominations are promotions from within the district.

As a result, these individuals will begin their new roles July 1: Salem High School Principal Maura Palmer will be SAU 57 assistant superintendent; SHS Associate Principal Tracy Collyer will be SHS principal; SHS Math and Science Director Deborah Payne will be SAU 57 finance director; SHS teacher Bradley St. Germain will be SHS math and science director; Woodbury Middle School Assistant Principal George Murray will be Fisk Elementary School principal.

The nominations were passed with little discussion by the School Board although one member, Patricia Corbett, said she had received much positive feedback on the nominations, adding that promoting from within was a good sign for the district.

Also at last night's meeting, School Board Chairwoman Pamela Berry announced committee assignments for the board, the most prominent of which is that she will serve as the board's representative to the Municipal Budget Committee.

She stated new School Board member Michael Carney, Jr. will serve as alternate.

Berry said a new arrangement will be in place this year where she will sit in on the town budget deliberations while Carney will represent the board during school budget deliberations.
