School Deliberative Session Tonight
Nine warrant articles to be considered this evening at SHS.

The Salem High School auditorium will play host to the 2012 Salem School District deliberative session tonight starting at 7.

The nine articles up for deliberation tonight will be voted on in their final form at the polls on March 13.
According to the warrant, "the session shall consist of explanation, discussion, and debate" on Articles 2 through 10.

"Warrant articles may be amended subject to the following limitations: (a) warrant articles whose wording is prescribed by law shall not be amended and (b) warrant articles that are amended shall be placed on the official ballot for a final vote on the main motion as amended," according to the warrant.
Article 2 asks voters to consider . Article 3 is the 2012-2013 district operating budget of $59,777,128. Should that article be defeated at the polls, the default budget is $60,312,713.
Articles 4 through 8 are new union contracts for school district collective bargaining units. Respectively, the articles are for teachers, secretaries, education assistants, custodians and food service.
Article 9 deals with interest earnings from the bond that renovated the Barron, Lancaster and North Salem Elementary Schools. Article 10 discontinues the Beede Waste Oil Expendable Trust Fund.
