School Renovations Information Session Tonight

The session will start at 7 p.m. in the SHS Media Center.

An information session on Phase II of the Salem elementary school renovation projects will be held tonight at the Media Center at 7.

At Tuesday's School Board meeting, SAU 57 Superintendent Michael Delahanty said board members will have an opportunity to speak about the $21.5 million bond article, which will be Article 2 on this year's school warrant.

The bond would renovate the , and elementary schools and would be completed at the outset of the 2013-2014 school year if passed.

Project architects and managers will also be on hand to discuss the project and answer questions, according to Delahanty.

The structure of tonight's session includes an introduction, the providing of historical perspective on how the district came to this proposal, an overview of the plans and information on enrollment history going back as far as 30 years. Delahanty said they'll open the floor for questions and input from the public after that.

Board member Pamela Berry offered a reminder that an open house will also be going on at Salem High School at the same time as the information session and parking around the high school may be tight. She hoped that would not deter people from coming to the session.
