Signups For Salem 2023 Town, School Election Races Start Jan. 25
Voters will go to the polls to decide board of selectmen, budget committee, ZBA, and other town office members on March 14.
SALEM, NH — Signups for several town offices in Salem will begin on Jan. 25, according to Town Clerk Susan Wall.
Anyone interested in running for a Salem town office needs to be a resident and a registered voter. Filings will occur at the town clerk’s office at 33 Geremonty Drive. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The following town seats are up for grabs:

- Two 3-year board of selectmen seats
- Two 3-year budget committee seats
- One 3-year town clerk’s seat
- One 3-year tax collector seat
- One 3-year treasurer’s seat
- One 3-year library trustee seat
- One 1-year library trustee seat
- One 3-year trustee of the trust funds seat
- Two 3-year planning board seats
- Two 3-year zoning board of adjustment seats
The filing period ends on Friday, Feb. 3.
The first deliberative session for the town meeting will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4, at Salem High School.

Election Day is March 14. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at five locations in town.

The filing period for school board candidates also starts on Jan. 25.
One 3-year school board seat will be chosen this year.
Candidates must be a registered voter.
Signups will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Salem School District superintendent's office at 38 Geremonty Drive or via Kelly Bryant, the school district clerk.
Superintendent Maura Palmer said the school board member's election was by a non-partisan ballot. Voting will be held at the same voting time and places as town elections.
Absentee ballots may be obtained from the town clerk's office.
