Johnson's Pond Search: Victims Identified
Two bodies have been recovered from Johnson's Pond, where a Cranston man and an East Providence man went missing on Wednesday.

COVENTRY, RI — The two men who drowned in Johnson's Pond have been identified as Laurence Ryan, 54, and Steven Duarte, 47, both of East
Providence, Coventry Police Chief Col. John MacDonald said. A water search began Wednesday night for the two swimmers after a woman on a pontoon boat said they had gone in the water but had not resurfaced.

The incident started around 11 p.m. Three divers from the Warwick Fire Department were en route to Coventry around 11:30 p.m. The state police dive team had also been requested. At 12: 57 a.m., the Coast Guard was also notified.
