Sushi lovers win big at Wasabi Japanese Steakhouse by just eating a plate full of sushi. Sounds simple enough, but to win the contestants had to eat 30 pieces of sushi in record time.The winner of Salem’s first Sushi Challenge , Joey Sierra, ate 30 pcs in three minutes.
Seven contestants competed for an award , gift certificate and bragging rights. This is the first competition the restaurant has held and Wasabi Japanese Steakhouse manager Kevin Shi wants the competition to keep growing.
Wasabi Japanese Steakhouse is located at 236 Broadway in McKinnons Plaza. Lunch is served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and dinner is served until 9:30 p.m. daily. The bar is open until 1 a.m. and lunch specials are offered Monday through Saturday,
