Three from Mass. Arrested on Heroin Charges

Salem Police, DEA agents confiscate 15 fingers of heroin valued at around $4,500 this week at the South Broadway Target parking lot.

SALEM, NH - Three Massachusetts men were arrested on Tuesday on drug charges after a lengthy narcotics investigation, according to police.

Wilfredo Laboy, 31, pictured left, of Methuen, MA, was arrested on Feb. 9, 2016, for sale of a controlled drug (heroin). Also arrested was Francisco Castillo, 37, pictured center, of Lawrence, MA, for sale of a controlled drug (heroin) and transporting drugs in a motor vehicle, and Luis Ascona Hernandez, 46, of Lawrence, MA, for possession of a controlled drug (heroin) and falsifying physical evidence.

According to police, at around 1 p.m. on Feb. 9, detectives and agents from the DEA were in the process of conducting a “lengthy narcotics investigation involving large quantities of heroin and cash” and located the three men in the parking lot of the Target on South Broadway.

As they tried to apprehend the men, one reportedly fled while the others remained and attempted to destroy the narcotics. Police allegedly seized 15 “fingers” of heroin weighing approximately 150 grams with a value of about $4,5000.

Eventually, all three were taken in to custody, transported to police headquarters, and processed.

Laboy was released to DEA agents while Hernandez and Castillo were released on personal recognizance bail and are due in Salem District Court on March 28.
