The Town of Salem through its Municipal Services Department – Public Works Division will begin its annual roadside litter pickup starting the week of April 4. You may have seen the staff gathering the litter each year at this time and placing it in blue bags in the right of way to be picked up and brought to the Transfer Station. Those blue bags are provided by New Hampshire the Beautiful, Inc., which is proud to assist New Hampshire towns, cities, and individual groups with litter cleanup programs. The Town of Salem is a member of the Litter-Free New Hampshire Program and has collected over 19 tons of litter over the past six years. That is 38,000 pounds of roadside debris with an annual average of 3.16 tons.
