Town Of Salem: Roadway Stabilization Project

Work is anticipated to begin sometime in May and run through October.

(Patch Graphic)

Work is anticipated to begin sometime in May and run through October. Work commonly gets completed one street at a time with the schedule being subject to change based on weather and other factors. So please check the Towns Facebook page or website for schedule updates.

Typically, a roadway is only impacted for a couple of weeks for milling the surface, adjusting castings, and paving the roadway back in. Some roads have other needs such as drainage improvements, utility improvements, tree removals, or extensive pavement repair which will be done in advance of the finish paving.

Some work will extend beyond the edge of pavement. Any lawn irrigation/sprinkler systems may get damaged where work is conducted beyond the edge of pavement. Please plan to remove irrigation components if you do not want damage to occur. These are in essence “private” systems located within the Town of Salem’s Right-of -Way (ROW). As such, the Town of Salem will not be responsible for damage to private irrigation/sprinkler systems.

In addition, any other private items permanently installed or placed within the Town’s ROW will need to be moved prior to work beginning. This includes items such as basketball hoops, benches, temporary shelter/storage sheds, lawn decorations, trailers, etc. These items slow down paving operations. The Town will not be responsible for damage to items left in the ROW as a result of construction activities. Finally, the Mill and Overlay project will result in some temporary inconvenience such as minor travel delays. Please be assured that these issues are of the highest concern and both the Town, and the Contractor will make every effort to keep these inconveniences to a minimum. I would like to thank you in advance for your patience and understanding during this period. If you have any questions concerning this project, please do not hesitate to contact me at 603-890-2030.
