Traveling Abroad? Will Embassy Closings Affect Your Plans?

State Department says it's 'not an indication of a new threat stream.'

The U.S. Department of State will keep 19 U.S. Embassies in the Muslim world closed through this week as a precautionary maneuver after online terrorist chatter was detected.

"This is not an indication of a new threat stream, merely an indication of our commitment to exercise caution and take appropriate steps to protect our employees including local employees and visitors to our facilities," the State Department announced Aug. 4.
