According to a press statement, at around 3:15 p.m. yesterday, a trooper attempted to pull over a black Audi A6 on I-93 North in Salem for multiple inspection violations. The vehicle came to a slow stop near Exit 1 but as the officer approached the vehicle, it allegedly sped away “a very high rate of speed passing other motorist in the high speed shoulder, cutting in and out of traffic.” The trooper determined it was too dangerous to pursue the vehicle but radioed others.

A trooper on a construction detail in Windham reportedly saw the vehicle approaching and alleged that it was traveling more than 100 mph. That trooper determined that he would not be able to catch up to the vehicle and quickly lost sight of it, according to the report.

NHSP Dispatch then notified both Derry and Londonderry police about the vehicle and a motorcycle officer from Londonderry spotted the vehicle on Route 102.

“The officer reversed direction to stop the Black Audi and it again took off at a very high rate of speed,” according to Lt. Nathan Noyes of NHSP Troop B. “Officers from Derry and Londonderry saturated the area. The Black Audi was seen driving at high speeds down several side streets in Derry.”

The vehicle later reportedly stopped on Birch Street in Derry and both men allegedly fled the area on foot. A K-9 unit was called in and after about 30 minutes, both men were found hiding behind a tree on Fenway Street in Derry.

Both Ayala and Candelario are due in court on Nov. 10.
