Veteran Entrepreneurs Protections Approved in the House
Kuster applauded passage; proposal would help vets start their own businesses, return to civilian life.

U.S. Rep. Ann McLane Kuster, D-NH, released the following statement recently applauding passage of an amendment she introduced to ensure that veteran voices are protected by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), an agency created to represent the interests of Main Street consumers. Kuster’s amendment would ensure that a newly created Small Business Advisory Board, which will be tasked with advising the CFPB on small business concerns and priorities, will include veteran entrepreneurs as members of the Board:
“After fighting to protect the American dream for every one of us, many veterans have worked to realize that same dream by starting their own businesses upon their return to civilian life. These veteran entrepreneurs have unique perspectives and experiences in today’s modern economy, and we owe it to our returning heroes to heed their advice and support their success.”
“That’s why I was proud to introduce an amendment today to ensure that the voices of our veteran entrepreneurs will be heard by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, which works to protect Main Street American consumers and foster small business growth. By requiring the inclusion of veteran entrepreneurs on the Small Business Advisory Board, which advises the CFPB, we can help ensure our veterans’ thoughts and concerns are taken into consideration so local veteran-owned businesses in the Granite State and all across the country can thrive and grow. I thank my colleagues from both sides of the aisle for coming together to support this crucial amendment, which will honor the sacrifice and contributions of veteran entrepreneurs throughout the nation.”

A Member of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, Kuster has long fought for increased support for veteran-owned businesses. Today, Representative Kuster’s amendment to H.R. 1195, the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection Advisory Boards Act, passed with strong support from both sides of the aisle, and was also supported by Kuster’s colleague, U.S. Rep. Frank Guinta, R-NH.
Kuster has long-supported the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and she supports full funding for the Bureau’s efforts to protect main street consumers like the veteran entrepreneurs who will benefit from her amendment that passed.
