Bettencourt: Why I’m Running For Re-Election To Budget Committee
My motivation is the same as it was when I was first elected: I love Salem and I'm a faithful advocate for taxpayers.
After deliberation and permission from my wife, I will be running for re-election to the Budget Committee this spring. My motivation is the same as it was when I was first elected: I love Salem and I’m a passionate advocate for taxpayers.
Some have encouraged me to run for Selectman or School Board. I appreciate the sentiment but the simple truth is that I really enjoy the Budget Committee. The work is fun and given my responsibilities to my job with Governor Chris Sununu and commitment to my young family, it’s the best fit for me in terms of skill set and time commitment. And remember, the Budget Committee is uniquely positioned to hold both boards accountable.
As always, it’s my intention to run a rigorous and energetic campaign. My platform is the same: I’m a fiscal conservative who has approached every budget with respect, transparency and fairness. I believe in efficient government and I’ll always be an advocate and defender of your hard-earned tax dollars. I’ve proudly tried to cut spending and taxes but not without doing my homework and putting alternative solutions on the table. In short, I have conducted myself exactly as I promised voters that I would when they elected me in 2016. I’ve been honest and kept my promises. I hope to earn your support again in March.
