Woman Allegedly Assaults Loss Prevention Employee

Woman and man both charged with theft from Macy's.

A Massachusetts woman was arrested after she allegedly assaulted a Macy's loss prevention employee who was attempting to detain her and another man for theft Monday.

Christina Orozco, 22, of Worcester, Mass., was charged with shoplifting and three counts of simple assault, while Matthew Williams, 19, of Oxford, Mass., was charged with shoplifting.

Salem Police responded to Macy's at the Mall at Rockingham Park at approximately 8:56 p.m. Monday for a report of two shoplifters "struggling and being detained" by store loss prevention.

Loss prevention had observed Orozco attempting to steal four pairs of jeans and gloves valued at $270, while Williams was observed attempting to steal a suit and a pair of jeans valued at $372.50, police said.

According to police, Orozco "kicked the (loss prevention employee) twice in the groin, spit on him, and scratched him on his arm drawing blood."

Both suspects were taken into custody without further incident and police said both refused bail and were transported to Rockingham County Jail pending arraignment in Salem District Court.
