Would You Like a Seifert Auditorium Seat?

If you donated money to Salem High School in 1995 or would like to purchase one now, they are available.

The Seifert Auditorium at Salem High School will be demolished soon to make way for a new performance facility. But if you would like to own a piece of history, you can.

Back in 1995, a fundraising effort was held to replace the seats in the auditorium and more than 400 people purchased one or more seats. The seats can be removed and provided to those people who sponsored them 20 years ago, if interested, or purchased by anyone who wants a souvenir.

If you were a sponsor before, you can have a seat for free; if you’d like one, the district is asking for $20.

“A large plaque located just outside the auditorium identifies those who purchased chairs in their own names or in the names of loved ones,” according to a press statement. “Nameplates will be saved and returned to individuals who contact the district office.”

For more information, contact the Salem School District at 893-7040 or send an email to Linda Cornwell at lcornwell@sau57.org by Friday, March 20.
