You Might Want to Register to Vote in Salem BEFORE Tue Nov 8!

You can save a lot of time registering Saturday between 11am and noon instead of standing in the voting lines TWICE.

Subject: Haven't Registered to Vote Yet?

If you were thinking that it would save you time to register to vote at the polls on Tuesday, November 8, consider this. First you stand in line to get inside. Then you go to the line for registering. When you finish registering, you have to go to the end of the line to wait again, this time to check in to vote.
By NH law, today, Friday, until 5 p.m. and tomorrow, Saturday, from 11 am till noon, are the last days you can register to vote before the election. Just bring your photo ID and proof of residence - a utility bill that shows your address, or your checkbook that shows your address.
The Supervisors of the checklist do the extra hour at Town Hall on Saturday to help working people who cannot come during the week.
The State of NH does have "same day voter registration." That means people can register at their polling location the same day as the election. The downside is that people who register on voting day must stand in line to register, and THEN go to the end of the line again to vote. The line at the Town Hall is likely to be MUCH shorter!
Some folks are wondering about who they can vote for. Voters registered with ANY party can vote for candidates of ANY party. It is only in Primaries that your party makes a difference. Voters registered in one party can only vote in that party's primary. Independents are "undeclared" and they can choose either party's primary ballot.
