Windham To Host Southern New Hampshire Chamber Non-Profit Expo In October (patch.com) — Windham residents will soon be able to explore more than 50 nonprofits and community organizations when the Southern New Hampshire Chamber of Commerce hosts its Non-Profit Expo at Windham High School on Oct. 21. The free evening event invites attendees to discover local services, volunteer opportunities, and support networks, while giving nonprofits a chance to share their missions and connect with the Windham community.
2. New Ranking Of NH's Public High Schools Released By U.S. News; Windham Makes Top 10 (patch.com) — Windham High School has been ranked among the top 10 public high schools in New Hampshire by U.S. News & World Report's 2026–2027 list, giving local families another data point when weighing school options. The statewide rankings draw on test performance, graduation rates, and college readiness, and also highlight how schools serve underserved students and use advanced coursework like AP and IB.
3. Cher's Conservatorship Bid Over Elijah Blue Allman Heats Up as Son's Wife Seeks Control Instead (rollingstone.com) — Windham is at the center of a high-profile legal saga, with Elijah Blue Allman allegedly arrested there after a reported home break-in. That New Hampshire case now factors into a heated California court fight, as his wife opposes Cher's renewed push for a conservatorship and seeks legal control of his finances herself.
4. NH lawmakers override veto, extend deadline for new-trial requests (unionleader.com) — Windham residents should know that New Hampshire has extended the deadline for people convicted of crimes to request new trials when new evidence or science emerges, after lawmakers overrode Gov. Kelly Ayotte's veto. Windham Rep. Robert Lynn backed the change, arguing it better protects innocent people, and the new rules take effect January 1.
5. Transportation plan, trial petitions among 'Veto Day' approvals (wmur.com) — Windham residents are represented directly in a major round of veto overrides, as Rep. Robert Lynn of Windham backed a new law expanding the window for criminal retrial petitions. Lawmakers also approved the 10-year transportation plan with toll changes and debated high-profile bills on school rules and transgender bathroom access, some of which failed to advance.
