Following this Monday’s Board of Selectmen meeting on March 11th, Windham Selectmen Chairman Bruce Breton will assume a position on the Board of Directors of the recently formed Windham Taxpayers Coalition. As a three term Selectmen, Mr. Breton was instrumental in keeping Windham’s Town Tax Rate level. In fact, when he first took office in 2003, the Town Tax Rate was $4.46 per thousand dollars of property valuation. As he leaves office, Windham’s Town Tax Rate is $3.64. This reflects an amazing accomplishment and a tribute to his ability to balance budgets and needs.
“I am honored to have an opportunity to serve as a Board Member of the Windham Taxpayers Coalition. The work they have accomplished in just a few short weeks to educate Windham residents has already transformed the group into a valuable asset for our community,” said Breton. “The WTC’s presentation of facts and figures questioning the feasibility of the proposed new school provides knowledge that can and should be used to cast a more informed vote this Tuesday.”
Ken Eyring, Chairman of the WTC added, “Mr. Breton brings a wealth of experience from his time on the Board of Selectmen, the Planning Board, and the Capital Improvements Committee. We are blessed that he will become an integral part of our leadership and bring a new dimension to our organization.”

The Windham Taxpayers Coalition was formed to act as a Citizen’s oversight group that will monitor the spending of Windham’s local tax dollars. The group studies local issues that have high tax impact consequences, provides facts to the community regarding those issues, and seeks to provide sound, cost effective solutions by working with the community and our local elected representatives.
