Boot Camp for Women at Griffin Park

Get in shape starting on May 7.

Windham Recreation has announced its fifth season of a women's outdoor fitness boot camp, set to begin at Griffin Park next week.

the sessions will run for four weeks and begin on May 7, with classes on Monday, Wednesday and Friday of each week.

The classes begin at 8 a.m. and run until 9 a.m. each day.

All equipment for the camp is provided to those who participate.

The Recreation Department issued a statement explaining exactly what types of workout drills will be involved in the annual camp:

Lose inches, lose pounds and burn a ton of calories in this program especially designed for women. We will focus on total body conditioning with cardiovascular interval training drills and exercises, partner drills, medicine ball drills and core conditioning. Resistance training is also incorporated using free weights and resistance bands targeting all the difficult areas. For the sports minded, athletic style drills are incorporated to improve speed, agility, power and quickness. You can feel comfortable working out in a non-competitive and non-intimidating environment.
