Have you seen those sneakers around town and wondered what in the world they were for? Well, rest easy because now you know that they represent the second annual Fight to Finish Cancer 5K Family Fun Run/Walk, taking place on Sunday, May 5th. The course for this race is flat and fast, beginning and ending at the Lobster Tail Restaurant at 4 Cobbetts Pond Rd. in Windham, NH, and is approximately 3.2 miles. Registration will begin at 9:00 a.m. on race day and a shotgun start will take place at 10:00 a.m. Pre-registration is encouraged by visiting our website www.sites.google.com/site/f2fcrace to find a registration form. All proceeds from registration fees ($20/adult, $10/child, $40/family max) as well as an on-site raffle, luminary bags, and other items will benefit the American Cancer Society Relay For Life. Every participant will receive a coupon for one free beer or soda to be used directly following the race or within the next two weeks. In addition, racers will receive a coupon for a free appetizer! BONUS: Top male and female runners will each win a $25 gift certificate, all courtesy of Mark Smith and The Lobster Tail Restaurant! New this year: Dr. Monica Doble and Dr. Barry St. Onge from Windham Chiropractic and Massage Therapy will be on-site providing FREE mini massages and posture checks!
The F2FC Run/Walk is hosted by Team Golden Brook, a group of more than twenty spirited individuals who spend their days as teachers and assistants at Golden Brook School in Windham, NH, and their free time raising money to fight back against cancer. Since 2006 they have raised close to $100,000 to support the American Cancer Society Relay For Life and their mission to create a world with more birthdays and less cancer. Last year, the team’s efforts earned them the honor of being the top fundraising team in the entire state! The F2FC Run/Walk is the largest fundraiser.
Do you know someone: a family member, friend, neighbor, colleague, who has been touched by cancer? If you answered yes, then come and join us to celebrate that special person in your life. If you answered no, join us to fight back and help find a cure before you have to change your reply.

Are you a cancer survivor and want to learn more about the Relay For Life event? Join us for the race! You don’t have to run/walk if you don’t want to but there will be a survivors table set up where you can get information about the programs offered to you by the American Cancer Society. You can also sign up to be a part of this year’s Relay For Life of Greater Derry and Londonderry.
For more information please visit www.sites.google.com/site/f2fcrace, email F2FCrace@gmail.com, or like us on Facebook: Fight 2 Finish Cancer. Can’t make the race? The team has another fundraiser on May 15th. Challenge yourself and see what you’re really made of at their Tabata-thon at the Windham High School gymnasium from 6:00-7:00 p.m. What’s Tabata? It’s the High Intensity Interval Training that everyone is talking about! It is 20 seconds of cardio or body weight exercise followed by 10 seconds of recovery repeated for 4-minute rounds. Great way to increase our fitness and raise money for a great cause! Modifications will be offered for all levels. Sneakers and a yoga mat are required. No judgments, just raising money for cancer. Sponsored by Susan McInnis and Windham Pilates.
