January 18, 2013 – We arrived today in Washington DC for President Obama’s second inauguration. After a way-too-early flight and settling in at the hotel, we jumped on the Metro and headed downtown. Everyone we asked for directions seemed to be in a good mood and more than willing to snap pictures of the three amigos: Tara Picciano, Cathy Souter and I. We saw the preparations underway for Monday’s ceremony and heard the announcers practicing. Apparently Beyonce and Kelly Clarkson will be performing!
We stopped at the Hart Senate Building to pick up viewing tickets from Senator Jeanne Shaheen’s office. Then it was a long walk over to pick up our Green Ball Tickets for Sunday evening. We saw NH Senator Marsha Fuller-Clark picking up her tickets to the event as well. We treated ourselves to dinner at Gordon Biersch after checking out the Spy Museum gift shop. I’d love to bring the kids to the museum sometime soon.
The only other person of interest we noted was Donna Brazile, the Vice Chair of the Democratic National Committee – passing her on the street. The famous vistas and locations were the real visual draw, though, so maybe we walked by others. I’ll try to pay better attention to faces tomorrow.

Tomorrow will start off early with a three-hour Segway tour of the National Mall. The weather is supposed to be perfect, 50 degrees and sunny. If I can manage to stay on board the tour should be great.
I’ll post tomorrow with more photos and updates. So excited to be here to participate in the weekend’s festivities!
