Gymnasts Bring Home Snow and Stardust from Baltimore
Local girls compete at Christmas on the Chesapeake Invitational gymnastics meet
Traveling to Baltimore over the weekend of December 9-11, several Windham, Pelham and Salem girls from Phantom Gymnastics in Hampstead competed alongside more than 2,000 gymnasts from throughout the East Coast. The girls faced difficult competition but managed to bring home some snow in time for the holidays - the prize for 1st through 3rd in each age group and level was a customized, gymnastics snow globe!
The girls also picked up a little star dust while in Maryland when the girls of level 7 found themselves competing against a 9-year-old from West Virginia… who happens to be the daughter of 1984 Olympic gold-medalist Mary Lou Retton! Gracious and outgoing, Retton took photos with several of the girls and offered autographs to the gymnasts following her daughter’s meet.
