Leftovers Wrapped in Crescent Rolls? You Better Believe It… Yum Yum!
Crescent rolls are a must-have in my fridge, epecially when it comes to leftovers!!
I made a delicious family pot roast on Sunday for my family and parents. I was watching the food network and saw Ina Garten make this on her show, The Barefoot Contessa. It looked so good but it was a lot of work. The sauce had carrots, leaks, celery, onions, garlic, wine, and even cognac…..yummy!!
It made a truck load so I had plenty of leftover meat and sauce. So I had to come up with a way to utilize both. I cut up the chuck roast into bite sized pieces and added some of the sauce to it in a saucepan to reheat. Then I took two tubes of crescent rolls and unrolled the triangles on a pizza stone in a circle so the points were facing out (see my pictures if you are a visual learner like myself). I put the meat mixture around the widest part of the triangles and added some shredded cheese on top. Then I folded the pointed ends of the triangles over the mixture to form a ring.
I baked this at 400 degrees for 20 minutes and cut the ring into 16 pieces. I served this with some leftover rice pilaf and sautéed spinach in garlic and olive oil.

It’s always rewarding to be able to make a quick and easy leftover meal after a grand Sunday dinner. I use the crescent rolls to stuff leftovers in quite frequently. Those crescents are always a crowd pleaser and they do sell a reduced fat kind that I haven’t noticed tastes any different than the original.
Once, I made chicken parmesan and I wanted to serve it for lunch but I
didn’t have sub rolls so put the leftovers in.
So I whipped out 2 tubes of crescent rolls, made the star shaped ring,
placed the chicken parm around the crescents, baked it, and what a great hot
sandwich that made. My in-laws were my guinea pigs and they were very happy to have been chosen because they loved it. I also use these to make a pizza ring. I sauté hamburg, onions, garlic, peppers and sometimes pepperoni. After I drain the fat and turn off the heat, I add Italian seasoning, half a jar of pasta sauce, and some parmesan cheese. I place this on the crescent roll triangles on my pizza stone and add some mozzarella cheese on top. Fold the triangles to make a ring and throw it in the oven to cook. This is a different yet simple and easy way to serve a pizza. You can also serve this as an appetizer. Cut the pizza ring into 16 triangles and serve it with some pasta sauce on the side.
