Local Gymnastics Champions Win Big at States

Phantom gymnasts go big at state meet and take home top prizes.

 

Derry, NH ~ When the time came to bring out the big routines, the girls from Phantom Gymnastics got the job done. 

With four out of six team wins, and two second place finishes, the girls were just shy of another sweep at the state meet, held on two weekends at their home gym in Hampstead and at Pinkerton High School.

Individually, we saw several top finishes and girls who made the regional state team at levels 8 and 9. (There is no regional team for lower levels). After a year of focus, grit and determination, all their hard work showed in the results.

**LEVEL 4 took second place in the team awards

Child 6-7:

Ava Sanchez, of Windham, was first on beam and floor. She came in third on vault and bars and she took first place in the all-around with a total score of 37.525, making her a Level 4 State Gymnastics Champion. 

Christina Pelekasis, of Salem, took second place on bars with a 9.425 and placed sixth in the all-around.

Child 8: 

Camryn Rueda, of Windham, was first on vault, second on beam and came in second in the all-around with a total score of 37.825.

Haley Farrell, of Salem, was fourth on beam and floor and came in sixth in the all-around.

Erin Ross, of Salem, was fifth on floor and sixth on beam.

Child 9:

Jenny Gouthrou, of Salem, was fourth on beam with a score of 9.225. 

 

**LEVEL 5 took first place in the team awards

Emily Jones, of Salem, was first on bars with a 9.675 and third in the all-around with a 26.825.

 

**LEVEL 6 took first place in the team awards

Child 9-10:

Kacie Blanchet, of Salem, was first on bars with a 9.325 and finished with a total of 35.950.

Junior 11:

Sydney Chretien, of Salem, was second on vault, fourth on bars, and took third in the all-around with a 36.775.

Junior 12:

Jordan Wakim, of Salem, was second on vault, third on beam, fourth on bars and took second place in the all-around with a total of 36.15.

Elizabeth Aldrich, of Salem, was first on vault and floor and took third in the all-around with a 35.95.

Senior 13+:

Kasey Hartman, of Salem, took first vault, beam and floor. She paced fourth on bars and won the all-around with a 37.075, making her a Level 6 State Gymnastics Champion.

 

**LEVEL 7 took second place in the team awards:

Child 8-11:

Morgan Suech, of Windham, took first place on bars, third on vault and took second in the all-around with a 37.05.

Olivia Faro, of Windham, was second on bars, third on floor and third in the all-around with a 36.95.

Junior 12: 

Sydney Bartlett, of Salem, was first on beam, second on vault and third on floor. She was unable to compete on bars due to injury. 

Junior 13-14:

Scarlett Souter, of Windham, took first on floor, second on beam and vault and fifth on bars. She was first in the all-around with a score of 37.55, making her a Level 7 State Gymnastics Champion.

 

**LEVEL 8 took first place in the team awards:

Child 8-11:

Rebecca Heath, of Windham, took first place on vault, beam and floor and second on bars. She won the all-around with a score of 37.325 making her a Level 8 State Gymnastics Champion. She was also chosen to compete as one of the top seven gymnasts in the state at the Regional Competition in April.

Junior 12:

Olivia Champagne, of Salem, was third on bars and floor and fourth on vault and beam. She took first place in the all-around with a 36.525 making her a Level 8 State Gymnastics Champion. She was also chosen to compete as one of the top seven gymnasts in the state at the Regional Competition in April.

Junior 13-14:

Gabriella Palermo, of Salem, was third on bars, fifth on vault and took fourth in the all-around with a score of 34.2. She was also chosen to go on to the Regional Championship in April as a member of the 13-14 team.

 

**LEVEL 9 took first place in the team awards:

Junior A:

Sara Fisher, of Pelham, was first on beam and floor and fourth on vault and bars. She won the all-around with a 35.525 making her a Level 9 State Gymnastics Champion. She was also chosen to move on to the Regional Championship meet in April. 

 

~Phantom Gymnastics is a competitive gymnastics program located on Route 111 in Hampstead and draws gymnasts from across Southern New Hampshire and northern Massachusetts.
