Chopping Their Hair for Charity [VIDEO]

For the third straight year, Windham High School students and teachers lined the gymnasium floor to support the American Cancer Society.

The Pantene Beautiful Lengths Challenge saw 17 participants while the Buzz for Bucks event preceeding it had 42.

Those who were in the seats had friends and family come from the audience to help take care of the cutting. Many of the people participating wore black shirts with the words "In It to End It" across the front.

Soleil Salon and Spa, Windham Beauty and Barber Shop and Artistic Creations employees took care of the styling after the ceremony.

The hair from the Beautiful Lengths event is used to make wigs for cancer patients, and 18,000 have been donated since the program started.

Also in attendance was the Boston Bruins' mascot "Blades" along with some of the team's Ice Girls. 

Luke Hynes, a sophomore at WHS who participated in the Buzz for Bucks segment, lost his great grandmother to cancer last year. His dad also lost his best friend.

"I thought it was a really good event to take part in," he said.

Donna InDelicato came to the school to shave her son Vallen's pink hair off.

She said that through Facebook, her son promised that he would dye his locks if he could raise $100 in one week. He managed to raise $2000.

Every Buzz for Bucks participant was required to raise $20, while there were no requirements for those taking part in the Beautiful Lengths Challenge.
